This is a great video for precautions to take before posting pictures videos and also ways to use pictures and videos in the classroom. I believe that since most students have smartphones, finding ways to use their phones to engage the students in learning and have them show their learning in new and creative ways is a great thing to incorporate into your own classroom.
In this video Thom Gibson points out that is also important because it can help other teachers gravitate towards using technology in their own classes, if they know how the students will receive the lesson, especially if they are able to really engage with the material. I think this is a good way to advocate for technology in the classroom, as those who may not fully understand how to use it properly in their classrooms will get to see how it can be effective and what it actually looks like. I don't think we have to use it all the time but i believe that when used properly there are many positive effects of using social media in the classroom. Just always make sure you have student and parent permission to post anything and keep it professional.

Great blog Bryce, I like that you included this video
ReplyDeleteAnother great post Mr. Graham! I agree - instead of fighting students about being on their phones, we can incorporate it into our lesson an engage them by playing to their interests.
