Robots are the Future of Teaching...

This week we had a discussion about the question
"could robots replace teachers in the classroom?"

Like Wayne here, I feel like the chances of this are very unlikely. Until computers are fully aware and can understand human emotion and interactions, robots are not able to replicate the emotional aspects that human teachers can. Humans are capable of understanding external forces that may be affecting behavior and emotions, which enables teachers to understand the students better than robots ever could.

It would be pretty cool though...

I think it's worth a shot. Everybody seems to be having a great time. Until, that is, the Teacher Robots turn on the students in some kind of software glitch and the government has to overthrow the Robot Teacher Society which will inevitably lead to a Civil War pitting the Teachers against the Robot Teachers causing decades of fighting leaving the world in a war torn and teacherless place, with kids that will grow up not ever learning how to read.  Ok, im against Robot Teachers.

I imagine Dr. Mike Nantais as the General in this song, urging us not to fight the Robot Teachers, and I think before this situation actually arises, we need to become the best teachers so we don't need to create robot teachers in the first place.

Ya guys, I know this is really weird, but everybody was writing about the same stuff so hopefully this can act as a palate cleanser between actual insightful and interesting content that is posted by all you wonderful and brilliant people.

  2. This is awesome Bryce!!! I totally agree with you that we need to be the best teachers possible so being replaced by robots is not an option. Therefore, teachers need to use technology to their advantage to help save time so they can have more one to one teaching with their students.

  3. Hi Bryce, I like your unique approach to getting home your message. I do agree that the human element is unique and as teachers we have to go above and beyond so that we indeed are not replaceable by robots. Plus robots can go bad and I thought your video and pop culture twist on it was brilliant. Here is my common thought when I think of robots from IROBOT. What a flick.!
